One of our two properties in the village of Applethwaite itself, Upper House is located above Lower House [link]. The two properties share the car parking area and the garden, but each has its own private sitting out area.
The entrance gives access to a shower room and to the spacious lounge/dining room. This has an amazing, panoramic view south – encompassing Latrigg and the Helvellyn range, Derwentwater with the encircling Borrowdale fells, the northwestern fells, and west down the Bassenthwaite valley. The lounge has a coal-burning stove – great for those winter evenings.
The kitchen is off the lounge, and the double bedroom is also on this level, making the property easy to use for guests with limited mobility.
Upstairs are two twin bedrooms reached from the galleried landing – both of these bedrooms have sloping ceilings and velux windows – again with those magnificent views south.
The garden is reached by steps from the car parking area. There is a secluded, raised decking with garden furniture and BBQ for the exclusive use of Upper House guests.
Cycles can be placed under the raised decking in the garden so they are out of sight and have some protection from the weather.
There is car parking for 2 cars for Upper House guests – but please enquire if you have 3 cars as this is sometimes possible.
Sorry, no pets.
