Tremaine Green Country Cottages
Writes Bryn Frank, publisher of The Good Holiday Cottage Guide, 'We have known and admired the cottages at Tremaine Green for 25 years. Effectively making up a hamlet in its own right, the traditional craftsmen’s cottages are cosy and full of 'tender loving care'. They are nicely tucked away but not remote: Polperro is just a short drive away, along with good beaches and restaurants.'
There are excellent award-winning gardens. Also, there’s a hard tennis court, putting green, swing-ball, pigmy goats, ducks, miniature ponies etc to feed. Hamlet, the owners’ blue Great Dane, completes the picture!
Every cottage is named after its original use, such as Blacksmith’s, Carpenter’s and Miller’s. There are eleven, (sleeping 2 to 6). Most have an antique four-poster or half-tester bed at least in the main bedroom. The kitchens in cottages sleeping 4 or more have dishwashers and fridge-freezers.
The double glazing and the oil-fired central heating make all this cosy in winter. (Four cottages have real fires as well: the 1760’s Ploughman's inglenook fireplace - with the original cloam (bread) oven - has proved especially popular.) DVDs are available for rent. Tickets for the Eden Project (14 miles away) are for sale to avoid queuing at the ticket office there. Dogs and other pets welcome. Linen provided. Cost: about £209 to £1022.

Mariners Cottage Sleeps 2 + cot. A single storey holiday cottage, with twin beds convertible to a king-sized bed, bathroom, kitchen-diner-living room. Being on one floor and level throughout it is the most suited of the holiday cottages for mobility disabled persons.
Carpenters Cottage Sleeps 2 + cot. This holiday cottage has one double bed with drapes, bathroom, kitchen-diner and lounge.
Housekeepers Cottage Sleeps 2 + cot. In this holiday cottage you will find one half-tester double bed, bathroom, kitchen-diner and lounge. (A half-tester is a half-canopied four-poster bed.)
Millers Cottage Sleeps 2 + cot. This holiday cottage has one half-tester double bed, bathroom, kitchen-diner and lounge.
Dairymaids Cottage Sleeps 3 + cot. A self catering cottage with one half-tester double bed, one single bedroom with 3ft divan, bathroom, kitchen-diner and lounge with real fire.
Cobblers Cottage Sleeps 4 + cot. This holiday cottage has one half-tester double bed, one twin bedded room with 3ft divans, bathroom and open plan kitchen-diner-living room.
Gamekeepers Cottage Sleeps 4 + cot. A two bedroom self catering cottage with one half-tester double bed, one twin bedded room with 3ft divans, bathroom and open plan kitchen-diner-living room with real fire.
Blacksmiths Cottage Sleeps 5 + cot. A two bedroom self catering holiday cottage with one four-poster double bed, 3 single divans, bathroom, large kitchen-diner and lounge.
Tinners Cottage Sleeps 6 + cot. A 3 bedroom holiday cottage with one four-poster double bed, one double bed and one bunkroom, spacious bathroom, kitchen-diner, upstairs lounge and downstairs second WC with shower.
Ploughmans Cottage Sleeps 6 + cot. A three bedroom self catering holiday cottage with one four-poster double bed, one double bed and one bunkroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room with traditional bread oven in inglenook fireplace with real fire.
Farmhouse Cottage Sleeps 6 + cot. A three bedroom self catering holiday cottage with one four-poster double bed, one twin bedroom with 3ft divans, one bunk room, bathroom, kitchen-diner and lounge with traditional bread oven in inglenook fireplace with real fire.
