One of six gorgeous self-catering converted historical houses in extensive grounds with beautiful gardens, Pekes Manor is a tile hung Tudor Manor House on three floors with oak-beamed ceilings, panelled rooms, and a croquet lawn. It is situated in unspoilt countryside and up a long driveway, making it especially peaceful, secluded and safe from the road. Pekes, situated twelve miles inland from Eastbourne, is within easy driving distance of Brighton and Lewes in East Sussex.
The back of Pekes Manor overlooks a large lawn. The lawned badminton court is marked out at the near end of the lawn, with croquet set up at the far end. This lawn is exclusively for the use of visitors to Pekes Manor House. A hard tennis court, out of sight, is shared with other visitors. The whole estate comprises 28 acres in all. Other visitors have shared use of parts of these, including the indoor heated swimming pool.
Pekes Manor has eight double bedrooms, a large kitchen and kitchen annexe, four bathrooms (two with bath, WC and basin, and two with modern shower, WC and basin), and three reception rooms. There is full oil-fired central heating.
Rental includes oil for the central heating, hot water, electricity and use of all the normal household equipment. Rental does not include linen or cleaning on departure. Cooking, cleaning and nanny help is usually available on request. Eggs and vegetables are usually available from the gardener. There is a pay phone for outgoing and incoming calls.
