Cottages in Northumberland
Holiday cottages in Northumberland are often in fabulous locations.
A typical Northumberland cottage might be on the banks of the
North Tyne (we like the South Tyne even more), in the lee of a
fine 'pele', or fortified, tower, or in a so-pretty greystone
village. Northumberland cottages by the sea are very popular and
you'll find for example seaside cottages near Bamburgh, Holy Island
(including Beal) and Belford.
We ourselves have had great Northumbrian holidays in cottages
in Bamburgh, Mindrum, Akeld (both those two offering that special
rarity - cottages in the Cheviots), Bowsden and Outchester.
Some say Northumbrian cottages: we prefer to say cottages in
Northumberland, and cottages in County Durham. Holiday houses
in Northumberland we know personally include hideaway cottages
in Alnwick (for two), cottages on Holy Island, big holiday houses
on the Northumberland coast (for ten), holiday
houses in Hexham.
There are cottages beside the spectacular Northumberland coast,
holiday houses near Hadrian's Wall, the River Tyne, the River
Wear, the River Tees. You'll find remote Northumberland cottages,
handsome farmhouses and village houses of great character.
Specifically, we feature (in or near the places mentioned): cottages
in Corbridge, Bamburgh, near Hadrian's Wall; cottages in Haltwhistle,
Holy Island, Belford, Rothbury; cottages in Longhorsley, Shilbottle,
Slaley; cottages in Beal (handy for Holy Island) - and elsewhere.
