Among the superbly situated cottages on our family-run stud farm in the North York Moors National Park, Mistal is especially cosy, warm and welcoming. There is good access to the beach and fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay. Visitors have access to some fine horses for year-round hacking over beach, heather moors, fields or forest - or you can bring your own horse. Cows and calves, horses and donkeys graze the fields.
Mistal is a detached stone cottage with extensive views and its own private walled garden and patio. It sleeps 4 in a double and twin. There is exclusive hire of the small swimming pool (20ft by 8ft) within a log cabin. The water temperature is 82 degrees F and the cabin is always warm for year-round use. A boat and other inflatables are available for younger guests. The large (24ft x 14ft) sitting room features a fuel-burning stove, TV and video, Hi-Fi system, payphone, quality books, videos and games.
Two pine bedrooms upstairs, lead off a galleried landing. The large bathroom has a bath, electric shower, heater, heated towel rail and hair-drier. The fuel stove is laid for your arrival and a free scuttle of fuel is provided. Heating is included.
Writes The Good Holiday Cottage Guide
, 'We have stayed in this charming cottage, enjoying the views, the privacy, the particularly warm and inviting sitting room, the convenient kitchen and - after strenuous country walks - instant hot baths! It was a special pleasure to watch the comings and goings of the sleek horses.'
