| The ‘Manor
House Stables’ has been beautifully
restored with natural earth-friendly materials using traditional
methods. Dating back to the 18th Century this Grade II Listed
Stable Block now forms 2 units of quality self-catering
accommodation which can be rented separately or together.
Both units have exposed beams, lime-washed walls and wood-burning
stoves. The first floor ‘Hayloft’
(sleeps 4) is relaxing and welcoming with a spacious open
plan living/kitchen whilst the ground floor ‘Bothy’
(sleeps 3) is warm and cosy with direct access to a small
private garden. Special care has been made to make ‘The
Bothy’ as wheelchair-friendly as possible.
Eco-friendly
– The Stables have been restored using eco-friendly
materials. The walls are insulated with cotton, hemp or
wood fibre and below the ground floor lies layers of insulating
limecrete and recycled glass. Natural environmentally-friendly
paints and wood finishes have been used throughout the building
and the hot water, underfloor heating and cast iron radiators
are fuelled by a wood pellet boiler and solar panels.
Natural Materials
– have been used everywhere. Real wood floors are
covered with braided wool rugs and recycled cotton mats.
Fabrics are soft and natural and colours are warm and earthy.
The luxury mattresses are made of organic Welsh wool, the
sheets are cotton (mostly organic) and the beds covered
in linen bedspreads or cotton quilts. Silk curtains hang
in the Bothy bedroom and wood shutters keep the light out
of the Hayloft.
Pampering
- The spacious main bathroom in the ‘Hayloft’
is a haven of peace and tranquility. Here you can soak in
the deep copper bateau Spa bath whilst watching your favourite
TV programme, relax in the sauna or freshen up in the steam
shower. And in the ‘Bothy’ an unusual wooden
soaking tub adds luxury to the beautifully tiled bathroom.
A basket of organic veg freshly picked from the garden awaits
you in the kitchen and chemical-free soaps and other luxuries
are provided to make each stay a little more perfect. Add
to that chocolates, wine and fresh flowers and this is certain
to be a very special break away…
Lots to do
- The gently rolling countryside is ideal for walking, cycling,
bird watching or generally enjoying the big outdoors. The
area is also renowned for both its coarse angling and its
golf courses including the national Golf Centre at Woodhall
Spa. Lincolnshire played an important part in the Second
World War and there are many memorials and museums in the
locality. Antiques, country agricultural shows and trips
to the coast are all ideas for an interesting stay. The
local village pub serves good food whilst an excellent restaurant
is less than a mile away.
