Tigh-na-Mara
Dornie, by Kyle of Lochalsh
Says Bryn Frank, editor/publisher of The Good Holiday Cottage Guide, "This is an exceptionally charming Highland property in a most attractive, but not uncomfortably remote location".
The comfortable cottage appeals very much to people who love the West Coast of the Highlands. At the junction of three Lochs, with the famous Eilean Donan Castle within walking distance, this double fronted mustard coloured delight is a family second home: lived in , well cared for and welcoming. Dornie Hill and the surrounding mountains, including the Five Sisters of Kintail, provide marvellous walks and wonderful scenery.
Tigh-na-mara is a well equipped holiday cottage with oil fired Stanley stove, a well equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The sitting room has a cheery fire and seats six. The spacious kitchen/diner looks onto an enclosed back garden with high hills behind. There is a dining room off the hall, opposite the sitting room with an open grate fireplace. There are three night storage heaters, two downstairs and one upstairs. The third bedroom is downstairs next to the shower room.
Upstairs there is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom either side of the bathroom, overlooking the front garden, sea garden and Loch Long, towards the Isle of Skye and the Cullins.
Kyle of Lochalsh is eight miles away with supermarket and shops and the bridge to Skye. Dornie has a well stocked shop, post office, and RC Church; the Episcopal Church is half way to Kyle.
There is a television with video and Radio/CD player in the sitting room, along with books, local ordnance survey maps, local guides and some games. There is a telephone with honesty box.
We regret no dogs. There is parking for one car by the house.
Cost: £400 per week, except high season July to September £475 per week. Sheets and towels are provided.
