Howscales lies in tranquil countryside in the heart of the Eden Valley (often described as Cumbria's best kept secret) Yet it is only 15 miles from the M6 motorway. It is an ideal base from which to explore 'the Lakes', the Pennines and Hadrian's Wall. Originally a farm, dating from the mid-17th century, its barns and byres have been sympathetically converted into four self-contained cottages that retain many original features. From their elevated position they all enjoy uninterrupted views across tranquil pastures and woodlands.
One of four cottages, Geltsdale was converted from a former barn and has a double and single bedroom on the ground floor with a shower room. Comfortable beds, toiletries, thick towels and lots of hot water await you after a day out.
The stairs separate the open plan kitchen/dining area from the lounge area on the second floor. Open beams create an open, airy flavour to the cottage.
The cottage benefits from a double aspect, with views across the courtyard or along the rear garden and over the Renwick and Geltsdale fells.
