One of several holiday properties at Maddybenny [link], Fairythorn House is a luxurious family-size house. Upstairs and downstairs open plan living areas benefit from a panoramic outlook that includes a view of the sea, and french doors lead to the courtyard. Upstairs there is one double bedroom and one room with a double and a single. Downstairs has one twin bedroom and one room with a single and a small double bed. All rooms are ensuite, and one is wheelchair friendly.
There's lots to see and do in the area, including Mussenden Temple and Downhill Castle (great views) and the world-famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge.
A great outing is to Ballycastle and Rathlin Island. The attractive seaside town of Ballycastle, with its sweeping sandy beach and harbour, is a good place to spend an hour or two. And if you fancy a trip to Rathlin Island, this is where you take the boat. Nature lovers will be aware that Rathlin Island is a Special Area of Conservation.
And of course there's the Giants Causeway. This strange rock formation of hexagonal boulders from which this part of Ireland's north coast takes its name. The new visitor centre, which has a restaurant, audio visual theatre and a large gift emporium, is excellent. If you don't fancy the long walk down to the causeway (or, more to the point, the long walk up again) a minibus can take you there and back.
Sorry, no dogs.
