Eagle Cottage sits slightly above Glenridding village, up a steep narrow drive. It enjoys a good view of the lake from the garden and from the main bedroom upstairs, and one of the footpaths up Helvellyn - third highest of Britain's mountains - passes the entrance to the drive.
Ullswater, nine miles long, has been compared by its more well-travelled admirers with Lake Lucerne, in Switzerland, and is frequently visited for the 'steamers' that have plied the lake for over a hundred years.
Eagle Cottage is a stone-built Lakeland property with, on the ground floor, kitchen, dining room, sitting room with woodburning stove and downstairs wc. Upstairs there is one double bedroom, a second bedroom with two single beds, and the bathroom.
The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The freezer, washer and tumble dryer are in a separate utility room. The living room has a CD player, TV, and DVD. There is also wireless broadband.
There is a cot and a high-chair. Linen and towels are provided. Heating is by electric night storage heaters. The price includes all electricity costs. Eagle Cottage has a woodburning stove and fuel is provided. There is a payphone.
Parts of the garden are steep and may not be suitable for young children.
