Nether Cairnyard, Dumfries

Cherry Lodge

Writes Bryn Frank, publisher of The Good Holiday Cottage Guide, 'We know the Dumfries area well. It has much of the wild-and-woolly appeal of the far north west of Scotland without being so far away. We'd almost go so far as to describe it as 'one of Scotland's best kept secrets'.

Cherry Lodge has direct access to forest walks and cycle tracks, and the charming seaside villages of Kippford and Rockcliffe, plus the sandy beach at Sandyhills, are only about 20 minutes away.

Dating from 2006, the property has electric central heating and double glazing. It sleeps 4 in two bedrooms, one with a double and one with twins.

There's a bathroom with bath and shower; a sitting room with 28" digital Sky/Freeview TV and DVD player. Sliding doors to patio with garden furniture give on to a small enclosed garden.

Dumfries ('Queen of the South' to football fans), with lots to appeal to the visitor as well as family entertainment, is five miles away and the immediate locality is excellent for doggy walks.

Cost: about £205 to £385 (inclusive of electricity and linen).
Pets welcome (£10 per pet). No smoking.
