| Helpful Holidays offer some 600 properties, spread all over the West Country from Land's End to the New Forest - seaside and inland - from smart 'beach houses' to a coastal fort, as well as thatched cottages. Our priority is to find out what individual people want to do on holiday and direct them to the place and accommodation to suit their taste and purse. A small selection of our properties are described below - the full brochure can be found on our website (see contact details below).
In rural Devon is Lower Elsford, near Lustleigh, comprising four sympathetic cottage conversions, sleeping 4 to 6 people, in grounds of 35 acres. There is a swimming pool in a converted piggery and horses for children to make friends with.
In the nearby village of Manaton, next to the church and lych gate and overlooking the village green are two lovely, ancient thatched cottages with woodburner or open fire and Rayburn, sleeping 6.
In far south Devon we have a selection of apartments at Bigbury-on-Sea with magnificent 180° views out to sea and towards the famous Burgh Island with its hotel and pub.
Beyond the River Tamar is Clift Barn, sleeping 8, with glorious views along the river and a huge lawned garden. Nearby in the exquisite adjoining fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand there's a choice of 11 cottages and Georgian houses.
There's a choice of over 80 properties on Dartmoor. Brimpts Barn sleeps 32 and Colehayes near Bovey Tracey is, we think, the UK's largest self-catering house, sleeping up to 70.
In Somerset there are many cottages on Exmoor and on the slopes of the Quantock Hills. In Chideock, Dorset, is a Grade II listed farmhouse with an indoor swimming pool and a games room. There is plenty of space for up to 17 people with open fires, a large garden and it is located just one mile from the sea.
Near Castle Drogo there are four thatched cottages. Thatched Gibhouse is set in peaceful gardens with a small lake.
