Their two cottages are full of comfort and character, with great attention to detail. Cherry Tree Cottage sleeps 6 and overlooks the children's picturebook farmyard (little ones can feed the ducks and hens, and older ones are welcome to play more or less at will on the farm). There's a big dining room, an open fire (plus central heating throughout), fresh flowers, rugs, comfy armchairs and sofas, oak beams, antiques, lots of nooks and crannies, good paintings, excellent views, children's games and toys, comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave.
The more recent property is a historic and intriguing cottage dating from about 1560, sleeping 2, and appropriately called The Old House. You descend most cosily from a bedroom with a five foot double bed and inspiring views of the Blackbrook Valley, into a lower-level sitting room with antique oak furniture and inglenook fireplace with log burner.
These are probably the best equipped farm-based cottages we know, with shaver points, electric blankets, rotary whisks, coffee filter machines, TVs/videos, and barbecues. Both cottages are rated ETC Four Stars. Cost: about £230 to £600. Dogs are welcome.
