Blairquhan is a castle surrounded by a country estate in the beautiful wooded valley of the Water of Girvan, in the south west of Scotland. On the estate there are seven holiday cottages of great character, available all year round.
You can enjoy the estate as if it were your own, walking and picnicking anywhere on the property, and fish on the river and lochs. Fly fishing for trout and salmon is available by permit from three pools along a single bank stretch of the River Girvan. You'll find great peace and tranquillity.
The grounds include a magnificent Giant Redwood tree thought to have been grown from seed brought over from America by the S.S. 'Great Britain'.
The Championship Golf Courses of Prestwick, Troon and Turnberry are all within 20 miles, and there are many other, less testing, golf venues. Culzean Castle, the flagship property of the National Trust for Scotland, is 20 minutes away.
The village of Straiton, considered one of the prettiest villages in Ayrshire is just a few minutes away. Here you'll find the village shop, tearoom and a hotel serving meals, popular with visitors and locals alike.
